"I finally found something that really helps! The first week I received the American Health Advantage Card I saved $418 on my Dental Care. That was money I would have had to pay out of my own pocket!"
-Jessica, Orlando, FL

"I just want to say thanks for having this service for those that cannot afford dental insurance. I have noticed the savings since the very first time I used it, and I've never even heard of Discount Dental Plans before. I was so pleased with American Health Advantage I called in to see what other programs they offer and signed up for coverage on Medical and Chiropractic as well!"
-Kevin, Philadelphia, PA

"The free prescription drug card is such an added bonus. I'm on a maintenance drug that used to cost me $107.67 every three months. After receiving my free American Health Advantage discount drug card it now costs just $43.42. This is an annual saving of $257, which is even more than the entire plan cost. What a great free bonus to go along with my dental plan."
-Hassan, Sacramento, CA

"I became a American Health Advantage Dental Plans member on March 9th. I was able to get an appointment on the 10th and saved over $1,000. Even though I hadn't received my actual True Care Dental Plans member cards, the customer service was so helpful."
-Erin, Savannah, GA

Reducing Cholesterol with Prescriptions

If your last doctor’s appointment revealed you have a problem with high cholesterol, your doctor may have suggested one of a number of statins – a prescription drug that reduces the cholesterol in a person’s body. Statins block a cholesterol-producing enzyme in the liver, thereby lowering the amount of a person’s “bad cholesterol.” These drugs are prescribed for people at risk of cardiovascular disease and usually take effect within six weeks.

Elevated cholesterol has many contributing factors, including a poor diet, lack of exercise, genetics and smoking. Left untreated, too much “bad cholesterol” can build up in a person’s arteries and harden into plaques. Eventually, the person could suffer from a blood clot or heart attack and be forced to undergo surgical treatments to relieve the crowded arteries.

To help prevent this situation from arising, a doctor may prescribe a statin – particularly if the patient’s cholesterol levels have not been lowered through normal diet and exercise changes.

If you have trouble maintaining a healthy cholesterol level, talk to your doctor about the possibility of getting a statin prescription. He or she will consider your personal health history and advise you on the best treatments for your lifestyle. To save money, make sure you use your True Care prescription card to get discounts on statins and many other medications. The True Care Advantage can help you lower both your cholesterol and your doctor’s bill.
